Apr. 25, 2010 - London, United Kingdom - epa02131532 Chelsea's Frank Lampard (R) scores their fifth goal past Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic (L) during this afternoons Premiership match 25 April 2010 at Stamford Bridge, London, Britain, 25 April 2010.

Chelsea are considering a renewed bid for Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
Manager Tony Pulis made it clear last week he has no desire to sell but Chelsea have been encouraged by the 23-year-old’s desire to join them and will offer around £4.5m. (Daily Mail)

There seems to be a consensus of opinion that believes that if Petr Cech is out injured then back up alternatives Ross Turnbull and Hilario do not exactly instil confidence from fans and management alike. Both have had spectacular blunders during their Chelsea careers, albeit the former Middlesbrough man’s errors have mostly been in meaningless friendlies.

With this in mind Carlo Ancelotti is looking to bring in highly rated Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic who has looked decent when he has been given a chance to prove himself at the Potters. The 23 year old Bosnian international wants the move to go ahead and it seems that if the Blues make a decent enough bid then Tony Pulis will probably accept rather than face having an unhappy player on his books.

Stoke have Thomas Sorensen as their nailed on starter and the useful Carlo Nash as back up so can afford to sell the former Portsmouth man who arrived at the Britannia in February in a £3.25m deal.

Chelsea fans will of course remember Begovic’s valiant efforts in goal for Stoke as they were whipped 7-0 last season, a game that could have finished 12-0 had it not been for the talented goalie.
