CRYSTAL Palace have offered Dutch legend Edgar Davids a sensational return to English football.

And the South London Press understands the 37-year-old midfielder – who lists Milan, Juventus and Inter among his former clubs – is set to sign for the Eagles.

Davids was in talks last October with Leicester City but the Foxes withdrew their offer when he took too long to make a decision on the terms they offered.

But the powerful dreadlocked midfielder will be a huge attraction at Selhurst Park and would be their most high-profile signing since Attilio Lombardo’s move from Juventus in 1997. (South London Press)

Not sure what the purpose of this story is but it would take something of a miracle for it to come to fruition. Edgar Davids has not played a senior match in over two years so one wonders why George Burley is even entertaining the notion of signing the former Dutch international. Maybe the 37 year old has a book coming out?

Remember there were also rumours last season that Puff Daddy was thinking of buying the Selhurst Park outfit last season so this is by no means the most ridiculous rumour involving the south London side. I will personally eat my fingers if Davids plays one single solitary minute of Championship football with Crystal Palace.

I have a sharp knife at the ready if I am proven wrong.
