Werder Bremen confirm the German international will sign for Real Madrid.
Werder Bremen have confirmed midfielder Mesut Ozil is heading for Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around 15million euros.Bremen turned down an offer from the Spanish giants on Friday but have now reached an agreement which satisfies their demands for a player who would have been available on a free transfer when his contract expired in 12 months.
The player, who was one of the stars of the World Cup in South Africa, will undergo a medical in the Spanish capital on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old did not take part in the Bundesliga club’s final training session ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Sampdoria this afternoon. (Football 365)
So it appears that World Cup star Mesut Ozil is off to Real Madrid. Manchester United and Chelsea were believed to be interested in the attacking midfielder but seem to have missed out on the opportunity to sign him for a knock-down price.
Ozil will join his German team-mate Sami Khedira in the Spanish capital subject to a medical this afternoon.
