Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini could move for the unhappy Karim Benzema, a long-term target of bitter Old Trafford rivals Manchester United, with a sensational €30 Million bid.
Man City are ready to make a fresh bid to bring Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to The Eastlands in January and at the same time getting one over on their bitter rivals Man Utd.
Man City boss, Roberto Mancini has untold millions at his disposal and had previously targeted Benzema, however that was put on hold after Jose Mourinho took charge at The Bernabeau, now it seems Real Madrid are prepared to let the Frenchman go after his attitude had been questioned by Mourinho.
The reports in the Spanish media also claim that Mourinho has lined up a ready made replacement, thought to be Wesley Sneijder and with the growing animosity between Benzema and Mourinho becoming public knowledge it is being said that this is what has prompted Man City to look again at the 22 year old.
Man City do have an abundance of strikers but it is also clear that the likes of Roque Santa Cruz are not wanted at Eastlands and even Emanuel Adebayor is thought to be dispensable and therefore bringing in yet another striker in not a huge problem for Mancini. (Footy Latest)
It is no secret that Karim Benzema has been targeted by Manchester United for many years now, but if reports are true that Manchester City have now registered an interest, Sir Alex Ferguson will have to act fast in order to finally get his man. Benzema would more than likely be swayed by the millions of pounds on offer at Manchester City, and it seems as if a fresh start is what the player needs after enduring an unhappy spell at Real Madrid.
Although Manchester United have a number of striking options at their disposal, if Benzema was to be made available, Ferguson would do everything he can to secure the player’s signature, but would Manchester United be able to compete with their City rivals if a bidding war was to take place?
