Udinese star Alexis Sanchez has revealed that he would ‘like to play for Manchester United’.
Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly been tracking the attacking Chilean international for some time.
Sanchez could be one of Ferguson’s prime targets in the January transfer window, although ‘the Wonder Boy’ is under contract with the Italian club until 2014.
United would have to pay in excess of £17 million for the 21-year-old starlet.
The player told Spanish newspaper As: “United? Obviously I’d like to play for a club like that. (Sky Sports)
Alexis Sanchez then went on to state that he would also be interested in a move to Malaga but one would imagine a move to Old Trafford would have more of a pull. Sir Alex Ferguson is a big fan and has said the following about the talented Chilean winger.
“We have looked at Sanchez and he has impressed us, as have other players,” admitted Ferguson a few weeks ago.
“He has had very good games and is an interesting project.
“We have gathered some background, as with other footballers at his level, but nothing more than this – for the moment.” (Sky Sports)
Now in his third season in Serie A Sanchez has become something of a cult hero in Udine but seeing just poorly his club has started this term, currently bottom of the table, it seems more than more likely the 21 year old will look to move on and with that in mind Man United appear to be favourites to land the pint sized starlet.
