Arsenal’s search for a new goalkeeper has led to them being linked with Bologna’s Emiliano Viviano, according to the Daily Mail.
Arsene Wenger has made no secret of his desire to find a new number one, with Manuel Almunia and Lukas Fabianski failing to establish themselves at the Emirates Stadium. After missing out on Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer in the summer, Arsenal are now thought to be monitoring Viviano.
The Bologna shot-stopper has impressed in Serie A this season, and after his outstanding performance that kept out Inter on the opening day, he has won two international caps. Filling in for the injured Gianluigi Buffon, Viviano has overtaken Palermo’s Salvatore Sirigu in the international pecking order. He kept a clean sheet against Northern Ireland last Friday, which Arsenal are sure to have noted. (Football Italiano)
The 24 year old Bologna keeper has indeed impressed whilst on international duty and Emiliano Viviano’s performances last term were integral to keeping the Rossoblu In Serie A last term. A giant of a keeper the 6ft 5in former Brescia man has bags of potential and may well be a good option to turn to.
Arsenal fans may however be looking for a more established name to take the reins from the very average pairing of Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski and the likes of Pepe Reina and Manuel Neuer will be alternatives most Emirates supporters would be hoping for.
