Inter Milan have three top midfield names pencilled in for their 2011 shopping list.

Corriere dello Sport says fitness doubts for Esteban Cambiasso has Inter lining up at least two midfield signings in the New Year.

For the January market, Inter will go with Rafa Benitez’s recommendation and move for Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva. Inter are confident of a deal for the Brazilian, who has lost his first-choice status since Benitez’s departure.

Then in June, Inter will bid for Bayern Munich midfield powerhouse Bastian Schweinsteiger.

If the Germans refuse to do business, Inter will turn to another of Benitez’s former Liverpool players in Xabi Alonso, now with Real Madrid. (Tribalfootball.com)

Quite how the very average Liverpool midfielder Lucas fits in with these genuine world beaters is beyond me but I am sure most Anfield supporters would be very tempted to accept any offer for the Brazilian who has a penchant of moving the ball sideways and then bringing people down with poorly timed tackles.

Rafa Benitez clearly rates the £8m rated former Gremio man and therefore a move to rejoin the former Liverpool boss at the San Siro makes sense and I am sure that Roy Hodgson will make sure that he hears of any potential offers and accepts them as swiftly as is humanly possible.

The 23 year old has spent the last few games sitting on the bench and seems very much surplus to requirements at the club.
