Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross is a shock target for Real Madrid.

AS says Real powerbrokers have agreed to meet coach Jose Mourinho’s demands to splash out in the January market.

Among names on Mourinho’s shopping list is Stoke captain Shawcross.

The former Manchester United trainee insists he’s happy at the Potteries, despite speculation last season linking him with Liverpool and a return to Old Trafford. (Tribalfootball.com)

This month Mr. Shawcross has been linked with a move to Liverpool, Juventus and now Real Madrid. Is the Potters skipper’s agent looking for a cash injection for a new conservatory? There is no doubt that the former Man United man is a solid performer who may well be on the fringes of an England call up but does anyone really believe that Jose Mourinho would be scouting the 23 year old?

For the record the Bernabeu side have conceded just two goals in their six La Liga matches to date and any problems they have appear to be in the final third and not in their back line. Can anyone seriously imagine Mourinho sitting down with the La Liga giants board talking about potential new additions and then saying “Well there is this guy who plays at Stoke City” to which no doubt his board will reply “You mean the one that nearly cripple Aaron Ramsey?”.
