Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been alerted to Athletic Bilbao keeper Gorka Iraizoz – who admits he is after a move away from the La Liga side.
The 29-year-old stopper – who is also on Barcelona’s radar – has revealed he is open to offers when his current contract expires on June 30.
Arsenal have emerged as the frontrunners in the race to land Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna.
The Italy Under-21 international, who is also eligible to play for Nigeria, can operate in the middle or on the left of defence and is valued at £5.5m.
Although Torino president Antonio Cairo has insisted Ogbonna is not for sale, reports in Italy have suggested that Arsenal have been in talks with the Serie B club with a view to a summer bid.
Serie A side Napoli are also interested but it is thought that Torino would only be willing to sell Ogbonna to a club outside Italy. (TalkSPORT)
Whilst this pair will not exactly thrill the Emirates faithful the Gunners supporters will at least be confident in the scouting abilities Arsene Wenger possesses. The Arsenal manager has been linked with a number of defensive replacements to help ease concern at the back, are this pair going to help resolve that?
Well Ogbonna is considered one of the rising stars of Italian football but it is worth noting that he is plying his trade in Serie B and therefore a move to the upper echelons of the Premier League is quite a leap. However he is young and adaptable and cheap, although finances are not exactly a worry for the north London club so why shop for bargains?
Gorka Iraizoz is beginning to make a name for himself after a journeyman career that has begun to find fruition with Basque side Athletic Bilbao. The 29 year old has helped push his side towards the European places in La Liga and could well be a decent signing but again one wonders why Wenger wouldn’t go for the safer option of bringing in established names?
