Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is weighing up a summer move for Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder. The Dutchman has reportedly not been too impressed with new boss Rafa Benitez and has been holding out on signing a new deal leaving the Eastlands boss to believe a surprise swoop may succeed.
The former San Siro manager has been linked with several high profile signings since he took over at the club last December and has managed to land some big names to help boost the club’s chances of securing a coveted Champions League spot for next season.
A move for Sneijder may prove difficult however as a move from the reigning Champions League holders to the City of Manchester Stadium could be considered a significant drop down but any offer would involve a substantial salary increase and the promise of real potential.
Having previously attempted audacious moves for the likes of John Terry and Fernando Torres a move for the Inter Milan playmaker may well appear extremely optimistic but by no means any more so than moves for other big name targets.
