Manchester United are reportedly keen on Everton left back Leighton Baines and may look to make a move for the England international next summer. Many sources have speculated that Frenchman Patrice Evra may leave Old Trafford some time in the near future and hence a move for a potential replacement for the former Monaco man.
Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently an admirer of 25 year old Goodison Park man Baines and was linked with a move for the Kirby born full back when he was at Wigan. David Moyes will fight off any interest in any of his squad but given the poor start to the season at the Merseyside club he could struggle to do so.
Having failed to prevent the likes of Wayne Rooney and Joleon Lescott from making high profile exits the Scot may be fighting a losing battle to keep the pint sized attack minded wide man. The Man United boss has also been linked with a move for Tottenham youngster Gareth Bale but Harry Redknapp has appeared to stop any such speculation dead in it’s tracks.
Everton will also be trying hard to keep the likes of Jack Rodwell, Steven Pienaar and Phil Jagielka all of whom are being chased by sides looking to swoop for their services. With the Toffees currently near the relegation zone such speculation may well increase ahead of the January transfer window.
