Manchester United have set their sights on signing two young Brazilian Internationals in January. Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to capture Barcelona centre back Henrique and Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Douglas Costa as the Old Trafford boss continues to plan for the future with youthful additions to his squad.
Henrique arrived at the Nou Camp in the summer of 2008 but is yet to figure for Pep Guardiola’s side and has been on loan spells to Bayer Leverkusen and this term at Racing Santander. The powerfully built centre back is thought of a hot prospect and would jump at the chance of a move to the Premier League after failing to persuade the Catalan side that he is worthy of inclusion in their first team plans.
Douglas Costa has been strongly linked with a move to England with both United and Arsenal monitoring the 20 year old playmaker. Although the former Gremio man has only arrived at Shakhtar Donetsk in January he is thought to be looking for a move away from the Ukrainian side.
The young pair would set Man United back around £22m to land and would be further evidence of the change in transfer strategy for Ferguson who appears to be looking to sign youngsters as opposed to established big names.
