Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering a move for Bolton centre back Gary Cahill and are ready to meet the valuation placed on the England international as Arsenal look to solidify the Emirates back line whilst simultaneously adding to their home-grown contingent.
The 24 year old former Aston Villa man has been a consistent performer for the past two seasons and has been attracting a great deal of interest and Owen Coyle seems to believe he will lose his defender and hence placed a hefty price tag on his shoulders and it seems the fee is one that Wenger is ready to pay in order to strengthen a defence that has looked shaky of late.
The north London side have been uncharacteristically poor at the back and have conceded ten goals in eight games thus far this season, five times more than rivals Chelsea, and even as the transfer window was closing on September 1st, Wenger had stated that he still need more defensive options.
Now firmly part of Fabio Capello’s national team set up £15m may indeed be a reasonable price to pay for a player of relatively tender years who has great potential and may well help make the Gunners a defensive force to be reckoned with once again.
