Liverpool are drawing ever nearer towards offering Roy Hodgson’s post to Galatasaray boss Frank Rijkaard as the Dutchman has now been left his post after an embarrassing defeat at home to Ankaragucu. As reported earlier this week, the former Barcelona boss had been facing the axe after a poor start to the Super Lig Campaign

The Galatasaray board called an emergency meeting following the 4-2 loss and this appears to have led to the former Barcelona boss deciding to jump before he was pushed, paving the way for an offer from the Anfield club who are set to sack Roy Hodgson in the coming weeks unless there is a marked improvement.

There are also rumours that former Barcelona Director of Football Txiki Begiristain could also be on his way to the Merseyside club which would lead many to believe that he would be reunited with Rijkaard who worked alongside Begiristain during his five year stint at the Nou Camp.

Many bookmakers appear to back such speculation with many regarding the 48 year old Amsterdam born boss as the favourite to succeed the seemingly exit bound Liverpool boss. If now owners New England Sporting Ventures wish to make any managerial changes they are likely to want to do before the January transfer window so that any transfer funds are invested on players are suited to the regime they wish to see guide the club back up the Premier League table.
