Roy Hodgson takes his Liverpool team to face Serie A high-flyers Napoli in the Europa League, hoping for a morale-boosting performance from his beleaguered side.

Liverpool find themselves languishing unexpectedly in the Premier League relegation zone. With a crucial game against Blackburn at Anfield on Sunday, Hodgson is travelling to Italy with a somewhat weakened squad. Opting to leave out the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, Hodgson is also missing Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger through injury.

The Liverpool boss is likely to give opportunities to the likes of Ryan Babel and David N’Gog and it is possible that youngsters such as Danny Wilson or Martin Kelly could have a role to play.

Napoli meanwhile are fourth in the Serie A table and coach Walter Mazzarri shows little sign of resting players against Liverpool as he looks to keep his side’s momentum going. The bad news for Hodgson is that with the Reds looking under-strength at the back, Napoli pose a particularly potent attacking threat.

Napoli: Suspect at the back but excellent going forward.
