Wayne Rooney has agreed a new five-year contract at Manchester United that is set to keep the striker at Old Trafford until at least June 2015.
The 24-year-old had earlier this week announced his intention to quit United but in a shock u-turn he has now committed his future to the club.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: “I’m delighted Wayne’s agreed to stay.”
Rooney added: “I’ve talked to the manager and the owners and they’ve convinced me this is where I belong.” (BBC Sport)

So we have now come full circle. We were under the impression, as was Sir Alex Ferguson no doubt, that Wayne Rooney wanted to leave Old Trafford and that he felt his future lay elsewhere, not barely 48 hours later and the 24 year old, who turns 25 on Sunday, has put pen to paper on what we can only assume is a huge new contract.

Quite whether this change of heart is financially or morally motivated we will leave the viewer to decide. What are the odds that the birthday boy starts the match against Stoke City and bangs in a goal or two? I’d get him in your Fantasy Football team right away.

Yes he may be injured but then again…perhaps he is not?
