Barcelona are ready to offer centre-back Gabriel Milito to Premier League clubs, according to the Daily Mail.
The Argentine has struggled to nail down a regular place in the starting line-up and with the Catalan giants wanting to give a chance to 20-year-old Andreu Fontas, who is a Spain Under-21 international and currently playing for Barca’s B team, opportunities look limited.
Nou Camp bosses are looking at ways to save money in order to move for other targets and see Milito as expendable.
They will hope to attract interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City in the 30-year-old, who was signed from fellow Primera Division side Real Zaragoza three years ago. (Goal.com)
Gabriel Milito’s move to the Nou Camp has never quite gone according to plan. The 30 year old Argentine has struggled to get a look in under both Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola and his rare starts have almost always been as a result of injuries to team-mates.
A move to the Premier League may well be just what the former Real Zaragoza man needs to get his career back on track. Clearly a move to Arsenal would involve a one year deal as this is Arsene Wenger’s policy on older players but perhaps this would serve Milito well so that he wouldn’t get stuck somewhere where he wasn’t getting a game. The Gunners boss doesn’t appear totally confident in recent signings Sebastien Squillaci and Laurent Koscielny and Wenger did state at the close of the transfer window that he probably could still do with more defensive options.
Roberto Mancini is probably also unsure of his defence and could well be interested in the experienced centre back who is rated at around £8m.
