Rivals Manchester United and City are to lock horns again in the pursuit of young Argentine striker Rogelio Funes Mori.
United have sent scouts to Argentina to watch the 19-year-old among others at River Plate while City have also been swift to register interest.
The Barclays Premier League duo are not alone though as AC Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also monitoring his progress.
Mori actually trained at Chelsea as a 12-year-old but was spotted there by River Plate.
United, meanwhile, have added Roma’s Daniele De Rossi to their list of possible midfield transfer targets. (Daily Mail)
By all accounts Rogelio Mori is a very hot prospect and a player who has made a rather convoluted route to success at Argentine giants River Plate. The 19 year old began his footballing career at FC Dallas in Texas but returned to his native Argentina to make a name for himself with the Buenos Aires club.
The £11m rated youngster apparently was close to having a trial at Chelsea but the player did not take up the offer and over the past 18 months Mori has proven himself to be a player with great potential but as with most South American stars a move to Europe beckons.
If Manchester United and Manchester City do indeed do battle for the striker it will be interesting to see where he would opt to pick.
