Newcastle United 5-1 Sunderland: Premier League Highlights (Video)

Newcastle United thrashed Sunderland in the Tyne and Wear Derby at St James’ Park. Chris Hughton, bizarrely considered on the brink of the managerial axe, masterminded a terrific performance from his side against their near neighbours.

Kevin Nolan started the rout with an excellent overhead kick whilst on the floor and followed it up eight minutes later to make it two nil. Jonas Gutierrez was then brought down by Nedum Onouha and Shola Ameobi put away the penalty on the brink of half-time.

Former Newcastle United man Titus Bramble was then sent off early in the second half after he brought down Andy Carroll, and being the last man he had to walk. Andy Carroll went close and from the rebound Shola Ameobi crashed home a superb fourth to send the home fans beserk.

Kevin Nolan then completed his hat-trick as he headed in from a corner totally unmarked to make it five before Darren Bent netted a consolation goal in the last minute.
