German international Bastian Schweinsteiger has admitted he is keen to play in England and would welcome a move to Chelsea.
The Bayern Munich star is under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2012 but the 26-year-old has revealed he would welcome a move to either Manchester United or Chelsea if the opportunity arose.
He told the Sunday Times: “I have a contract until 2012 and we’ll see.
“What I love is the atmosphere in English stadiums. When we played last year in Manchester it was fantastic.
“My brother is a big fan of Man U and he always says, ‘Go to Man U, go to Man U.’ I say, ‘I can’t, I can’t.
“I watch the English games on TV and I like the Chelsea style at the moment. They’re very strong.” (Eat Sleep Football)
Good news for Blues fans? Well Carlo Ancelotti may see these quotes as a ‘come and get me’ plea and could act accordingly. The Chelsea boss has been linked with a number of new additions as he attempts to reverse the ageing look of his Premier League champions and a move for the Bayern Munich man would be an expensive but very worthwhile one to make.
Roman Abramovich has apparently made it clear that funds are available to help his boss continue his successful managerial reign and at 26 Schweinsteiger has a great deal to offer.
Would Chelsea fans welcome such a move?
