Manchester United are lining up a summer move for Everton youngster Jack Rodwell. Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a move for the England Under 21 international and is hoping to lure the Goodison Park teenager to Old Trafford in the summer.
The 19 year old midfielder is one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League and even though the Southport born starlet put pen to paper on a long term deal at the end of last season Ferguson will still seek to tempt the Toffees star into a move to Manchester.
David Moyes will fight tooth and nail to keep Rodwell at the club but knows that he faces a fight to prevent an exit given recent examples of the Merseyside club being unable to prevent the likes of Wayne Rooney and Joleon Lescott leaving the club despite his protestations.
Ferguson is looking to bring in talented youngsters to usher in a new era as many of his current side enter the later stages of their glittering careers. Having brought in the likes of Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez the Man United boss is continuing to seek out up and coming stars as he appears to be not so enamoured by the crop of youngsters produced by the club’s Academy system.
It would take a bid in the region of £20m to land Rodwell and such a move would only prove successful if the player himself felt the need to leave Everton in order to further his own career, an assertion that may be made easier if Moyes’ side fail to land a decent Premier League finish this term.
