Bolton’s top scorer Johan Elmander is being chased by wealthy Turkish giants Fenerbahce – and is heading for a bidding war in the next window.
The big Swede was watched by a three-man delegation from Fener who are on the look-out for a new forward and could make a cash offer in the New Year.
Elmander is a free transfer at the end of the season when his current deal expires and Wanderers chief Owen Coyle may have to listen to bids for him in January.
Bolton’s record buy is having his best run of form under Coyle and has scored five times after looking a broken man under the previous regime.
Coyle wants him to stay – on reduced terms as he trims the wage bill – and Russians Spartak Moscow are also on his trail along with a couple of Premier League sides.
Bolton would want £3million for Elmander in January, a fee the Turks and Russians may pay. And Coyle could only let him go if he had cash for a replacement. (Daily Mirror)
With the January transfer window fast approaching, club scouts are being spotted at matches all around the world.
Bolton Wanderers striker Johan Elmander has scored five Premier League goals this season – already a better total than the last campaign and equal to his first season in English football.
He appears to have found a new lease of life under Owen Coyle, but even at the age of 29, £3m seems rather a low amount for Bolton to accept.
If Bolton have to reduce the wage bill however, Coyle’s hand may be forced.
