Reports linking Liverpool to Roma striker Mirko Vucinic are gathering pace.
According to German website 4-4-2, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have also joined the race for the Montenegro hotshot who allegedly wants out of the Stadio Olimpico.
Vucinic, 27, has apparently fallen out of favour with Roma boss Claudio Ranieri and has since been restricted to just two 90 minute outings this term – putting Liverpool and a number of other clubs on red alert.
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has made no secret of his desire to recruit a new goalscorer in January in order to take the burden away from Anfield hero Fernando Torres.
“We are quite clearly short of the players we need to give us adequate cover in attack,” said Hodgson.
“That is an area that really needs addressing, but whether it happens in January or the summer remains to be seen.” (Give Me Football – Official PFA Website)
Despite Roma’s win in the derby match table topping rival Lazio it appears that Mirko Vucinic still wants out of the Stadio Olimpico, and Roy Hodgson is waiting patiently to make his move. This source suggests that Liverpool are ready to make a significant move for the £15m rated Montenegrin who has been a consistent marksman in Serie A, first with Lecce and now with Claudio Ranieri’s side.
The physical attributes 27 year old Vucinic possesses would make him a perfect foil for Fernando Torres and would also suit him to the rough nature of the English game. His desire to leave for pastures new could well see him head for the Premier League where he has stated in the past he would like to give a go.
