Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson may be ready to make a stunning move for Manchester City winger Adam Johnson. The England international winger has made it clear that he will quit Eastlands if he continues to find himself warming the bench and the Old Trafford is said to be monitoring the situation at the City of Manchester Stadium.

The 23 year old former Middlesbrough has impressed for both club and country since his move to the club on deadline day on 1st of February but thus far this season has started just five Premier League games and has made it clear he will not be happy to stick it out for much longer. On the subject of his Man City future Johnson said.

“Every footballer has to think about it when the time comes. It is still early but I definitely would consider it.”

Roberto Mancini has also angered the player by making some remarks claiming that the winger may have got carried away by the praise he was receiving following his period of top form. The Italian has been reported as saying

“When you are young you read the newspapers and think ‘I am the top, I am the top’. But Adam Johnson is a young player and doesn’t understand the game very well.”

Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be an admirer of the Sunderland born left winger and may well feel that a move for the wide man would help in his push to build a new generation of young talent at the club as he sees a number of his squad enter the autumn of their careers.

Whilst a move for Adam Johnson would surely be a contentious one in pure footballing terms it is one that would make a lot of sense for the Old Trafford club, however if Ferguson does indeed make a move it would probably be turned down flat by City.
