Liverpool are reportedly on the transfer trail of FC Copenhagen’s Oscar Wendt and FC Basel’s Behrang Safari.

Club scout Jakob Friis-Hansen revealed he was monitoring both in an interview with Danish newspaper The Expressen, paying particular attention to former Spurs target Wendt.

”We are keeping a good eye on Oscar,” he said.

“He does a great job, but he must play at a high level every week. In Denmark, there are just a few high-quality games.’’ (Daily Mirror)

Both of these players are rivals for the position of left back in the Swedish national football team, indicating that Paul Konchesky’s Liverpool could be a short one.

Both are 25 years old, which fits in with the NESV approach of buying for many years service at the top level.

However, neither have been tested in one of the top leagues in Europe, and though each has international caps and a few appearances in Europe, neither Wendt nor Safari have shown they can consistently defend against the world’s best.

If they are the first fruit borne from the Roy Hodgson’s partnership with Damien Comolli, one cannot imagine Liverpool fans will be delighted.
