Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed he hopes to sign goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard within the next three weeks.

“It is not completed at the moment but there has not been a hiccup either,” he said.

“It will probably happen in the next two or three weeks, but the announcement was a bit premature.” (Sky Sports)

Finally we have the first official word from the club that Anders Lindegaard will move to Old Trafford.

While Peter Schmeichel himself is not convinced of Lindegaard’s prowess, the younger Dane could well be his heir to both the Old Trafford and Denmark number one jerseys.

Lindegaard has four caps for his country, and if he can oust Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen from the first choice goalkeeper position, he could increase that number.

Whether this is Edwin Van Der Sar’s last season or not, it is difficult not to wonder what this means for the Manchester United careers of Tomasz Kuszczak and Ben Amos.

One would presume that the 20 year-old Amos will most likely remain at Old Trafford, while possibly going out on loan, but for Kuszczak, one cannot help but think his days with the Red Devils are numbered.
