Manchester City is planning a 60 million-pound ($95 million) bid for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale, the News of the World reported, without citing anyone.
City would offer 50 million pounds, and striker Emmanuel Adebayor, which it values at 10 million pounds, the newspaper said.
There is set to be a clear out of fringe players at City in January, the News of the World said. Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given, and England internationals Shaun Wright-Phillips, Joleon Lescott and Wayne Bridge may leave, the newspaper said. (Bloomberg)
The race for Gareth Bale continues to gather pace but Harry Redknapp will fight off any moves for the young Welshman regardless of just how much is offered. It is quite sensible for Roberto Mancini to also offer Emmanuel Adebayor into the bargain as the north London club appears to have a bit of a problem with their current crop of striking options.
Thus far this season only five of Tottenham’s 24 Premier League goals have come from their frontmen and Redknapp has stated that he may have to bring in new alternatives and would welcome the former Arsenal man but is unlikely to consider any offer to take Gareth Bale who has become perhaps the club’s most potent attacking weapon.
