Arsenal are reportedly new favourites to land Dutch starlet Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
The versatile FC Utrecht forward, who made his name in the Eredivisie on the wing, was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, with Roy Hodgson thought to be keen on bringing the player to Anfield.
However, First Post now claim that Arsenal are close to securing a deal for the player, with Robin van Persie set to play a pivotal role in a move that would see his compatriot join the Gunners.
Player agent Louis Laros told Sport.co.uk that an official bid is yet to come from Arsenal, or any Premier League club for that matter, but interest is mounting in the player.
“There are a number of teams interested in him but there is no club that has come to me or the club regarding Ricky. So at this moment there is nothing concrete but it could change very quickly,” said Laros.
“You know for most of the Dutch players the Premier League is a dream, so when a club comes in, depending on the club and respecting FC Utrecht something could happen.”
A full international after making his debut for Holland against Ukraine in August, Van Wolfswinkel has scored 17 goals in 24 games for his club this season.

Arsene Wenger does appear to be keen to bring in new attacking options but has stated he is unlikely to make signings in January so perhaps this move would be in the summer when Van Wolfswinkel may well have upped his game further.
The young Dutchman has been in good form in both the Eredivisie as well, perhaps more importantly, in the Europa League where he has netted eight times, including a hat-trick against Celtic. The 21 year old former Vitesse man can play in a number of roles and is valued at around £8m.
The likes of Carlos Vela and Nicklas Bendtner are reportedly linked with moves away from the Emirates which would further fuel rumours of a move for the Dutch international youngster.
