CHELSEA players fear Carlo Ancelotti has decided to quit the club.
First-team stars are worried the manager will walk out at the end of the season – disillusioned with life at Stamford Bridge.

They believe he is still unhappy about the dismissal of No 2 Ray Wilkins and is worried by splits in the camp.

They also suspect he despairs of the Blues’ internal politics and power structure. One insider revealed: “The atmosphere isn’t good at the moment.

“Everyone is convinced Carlo has had enough, though absolutely everyone is desperate for him to stay.

“He’s very, very popular with the players, who believe that he is an excellent manager.

“But there’s no doubt the squad itself is unsettled and cliques are starting to form.”

I understand resentment is starting to surround the French-speaking players, who are allegedly blaming other team-mates for the club’s indifferent Premier League form.

Ancelotti, appointed 18 months ago, won the Prem and FA Cup last season and claimed he wanted to stay another 10 years. Few would bet on that now.

Chelsea have taken six points from the last 21.

So what should we make of this leak from an ‘insider’? Could there be any truth to the story? There is no doubt that something is not quite right at Stamford Bridge and the sacking of Ray Wilkins appears to be one major factor in recent events at the west London club that could well lead some to believe that Carlo Ancelotti is ready to call it a day.

Some sources state that the Italian has already been in contact with his former club Roma about potentially taking the post from former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri in the summer but that could well just be wild speculation.

Then of course the Blues have had some horrendous injury problems with their most important players and that will also have had an effect on goings on at the Premier League champions. All of this sits nicely ahead of the back drop to what has become an increasingly crucial home match with Man United. A defeat for the Blues would leave them six points behind Sir Alex’s side having played a game more.

Do Chelsea supporters feel that Ancelotti may be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit?
