Liverpool have targeted a move for Villarreal winger Santi Cazorla as Roy Hodgson looks to add more creativity to his under performing side. The Anfield boss is hopeful of landing the wide man who has forced his way back into the Spanish national team set up after a hugely successful start to the La Liga season.

Cazorla is a tricky winger with the pace and ability to take on and beat opponents and the pint sized former Oviedo youth team player also has an eye for goal, able to put away crucial goals when needed. After the best part of seven years at Villarreal the 26 year old may be ready for a new challenge.

The Spanish international has been in fine form this season helping the Yellow Submarines to their current position of third place in La Liga and after missing out on the 2010 World Cup squad is now very much a part of Vicente Del Bosque’s plans.

Cazorla may well be tempted by a move to the Premier League and the added bonus of being reunited with his former team-mate Pepe Reina as well as his compatriot Fernando Torres may help sway the talented attacker into such a move.

Hodgson would ideally like to snap up the Villarreal star in January and will hope that new owners NESV will be forthcoming with sufficent transfer funds when the window re-opens next month.
