AC Milan are set to allow legend Ronaldinho leave the club as Sampdoria playmaker Antonio Cassano’s arrival looks set to further weaken the chances of the former Barcelona star of getting a regular spot in the Serie A giants first team picture. There has been much talk of the footballing genius, no exaggeration, considering an offer to return to his native Brazil but perhaps Sir Alex Ferguson could consider making an offer?

Some would have you believe that the two time World Player of the Year is a has been with little to offer but Ronaldinho is still only 30 and is by no means at the end of the road in footballing terms. Last season he netted 15 times and played the lions share of AC Milan’s matches across all competitions. He still has what it takes and whilst there is of course talk of an astronomical salary there are also surely quite a few positives to consider when plotting a move for the World Cup winner.

Firstly by bringing in the vastly talented attack minded midfielder Sir Alex Ferguson would be appeasing Wayne Rooney by bringing in a stellar signing and whilst there would clearly be a big financial outlay to land Ronaldinho surely any cost would be offset by advertising and promotional ventures associated with the purchase of such a big name.

Secondly the adaptable star could well be of great use in a number of positions and his experience and ability could well help the club in the long second half of the season. AC Milan seem likely to sell the Porto Alegre born talent either in January or in the summer and it really does seem like a player worth considering a move for as clearly the fee for the player would not be very much when the transfer window reopens as he would be free to leave for nothing when his contract at the San Siro comes to an end in the summer.
