Reports are emerging that Ronaldinho has rejected an offer to join Gremio and has reached an agreement with fellow Brazilian side Flamengo.
According to Brazilian media outlet Radio Globo, the 30-year-old will board a plane to Rio De Janeiro tomorrow to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Rubro-Negro outfit.
Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo is said to be the driving force behind the move to bring the former world player of the year to Londrina.
Ronaldinho’s brother and agent Roberto De Assis is also expected to be present during the contract signing. (Goal.com)
So there you have it, it seems that the pull of a move to Blackburn Rovers wasn’t enough to put Ronaldinho off a move back to his Brazilian homeland. However it does appear that the Ewood Park outfit never actually made a bid for the 30 year old, despite the club’s owners claiming that they did, which is a tad embarrassing and more than a little amateurish.
A move back to Gremio, where the World Cup winner started his career, or to Flamengo would in my view be a bit of a waste. The AC Milan still has plenty to offer and as he proved last term, when made 43 appearances and scored 15 times, Ronaldinho still has what it takes to play at the highest level so isn’t a move to Brazil a bit hasty?
Perhaps however the Porto Alegre man felt he had done all he could in Europe, having won every major honour available to him, and therefore maybe a move back home felt right?
