New Inter Milan manager Leonardo has made Man City striker Carlos Tevez his No.1 transfer target – and is prepared to wait until the summer to get his man.
Reports in Italy claim he has presented a ‘wanted list’ to club president Massimo Moratti and is prepared to offer Cameroon forward Samuel Eto’o as a makeweight in the Tevez deal.
Eto’o is under contract until 2014, but has been linked with a move to the Premier League before and he played under Mancini at Inter when the Italian coach was in charge there.
Tevez is reported to have a strained relationship with manager Roberto Mancini and handed in a transfer request last month before performing a U-turn and pledging his future to City.
But there are claims the club have agreed to let the 26-year-old leave in the summer and that has given Inter hope they can land the combative forward. (talkSPORT)
Sometimes you read a story so preposterous you can scarcely believe your eyes.
This is one of those instances.
For a start, Carlos Tevez seems to have patched up his differences with Manchester City – despite what these “claims” say. The club has also just spent £27m on a striker in Edin Dzeko.
In addition, while 29 years of age, Samuel Eto’o shows no sign of slowing down. The Cameroonian has scored more than a goal every two games for the last eight seasons with the exception of 2009-2010, when he was shunted to the wing by Jose Mourinho.
This season he was restored to a centre forward position by now sacked Internazionale coach Rafa Benitez, and has scored an astonishing 19 goals in 18 appearances.
Naturally, they want to get rid of him.
Nothing seems to add up in this transfer story, but if it were to go through, Manchester City would end up with cash and one of the most deadly strikers in Europe.
