Highly rated attacker Diego Forlan appears to be on his way out of Europa League holders Atletico Madrid as Serie A giants Juventus have shown an interest in signing the Uruguay international, according to a report in Corriere dello Sport.
The Vecchia Signora were linked with Liverpool striker Fernando Torres earlier today, but sporting director Giuseppe Marotta supposedly feels the Spain international is too expensive. Therefore, he has turned his attention to the 31-year-old Forlan.
Forlan has developed into a key player at Atletico Madrid since joining the Primera Division side in 2007. However, he recently expressed his desire to leave the Rojiblancos for a bigger club and could very well be on his way out in January.
Atleti could be tempted to cash in on Forlan if an offer in the region of €15 million comes in in the winter transfer window. (Goal.com)
It appears that Diego Forlan is set for a new challenge and after seven and a half seasons in La Liga, during which time the Uruguayan has netted 151 times, a move to Juventus is on the cards. One has to wonder how the 31 year old was not named in the FIFA Team of the Year last night, after all he scored a bucket load in Spain and the World Cup.
Juventus boss Luigi Delneri is hoping to bring in some new attacking options and is looking to offload the likes of Amauri and Vincenzo Iaquinta and whilst Forlan is the wrong side of 30 he is in the form of his life over the past 18 months.
