Juventus are preparing a huge swoop to prise away Fernando Torres from Liverpool, as Europe’s giants circle the dire situation at Anfield.
Last week Bayern Munich were reported to be interested in the Spanish international, after a poor run of form which has put El Nino’s future in England in question.
According to Calciomercato, the Bianconeri are looking to give newly-signed Luca Toni from Genoa the perfect partner in attack as president Giuseppe Moratta continues to rebuild in Turin.
Italian media have jumped on Torres’ poor display in the FA Cup against Manchester United, and Liverpool are thought to be keen to accept big money in the summer before lacklustre form lowers their asking price.
However, Juventus are not willing to meet the huge price tag of Torres and will offer Brazilia- born striker Amauri plus around €30 million. With Amauri himself not having found the net on a regular basis for the Old Lady, Liverpool will no doubt be more happy with the money.
The interest from Europe could spark domestic interest from other EPL clubs, but Liverpool will surely be reluctant to let Torres move to another club in the Premier League. (Goal.com)
This source suggests Juventus are interested in Liverpool striker Fernando Torres but appear to be unwilling to make an offer of any substance for the Spanish international. The Merseyside club clearly have no interest in selling one of their prized assets, regardless of his recent poor form, but quite how this swap offer would be accepted is beyond me.
For the record hustle and bustle striker Amauri is 30 years of age and is not a regular in the Juventus side, has won his first Italian cap last August after the Brazilian born gained citizenship from his marriage to an Italian. The powerful forward netted seven goals from 40 matches which is hardly prolific and clearly the Turin side’s willingness to use the former Palermo man as a makeweight says all you need to know.
Kenny Dalglish will not allow the sale of the one effective attacking option they possess so this whole story is something of a non starter. There will be very real interest in the 26 year old Anfield goal machine and offers will be made but as long as Fernando Torres is happy to stay a Liverpool player then all bids will be turned down flat.
