Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has pledged his long-term future to the club and is relishing the chance to play under Kenny Dalglish.
Agger, 26, has been strongly linked with a move to Malaga and Fiorentina, but he is determined to stay at Anfield and help the club challenge in the top half of the table again.
The Danish defender has already held talks with Dalglish over his future and is fully committed to the Merseyside club.
Agger’s agent Per Steffensen admits there has been interest in Agger but has ruled out any chance of him leaving Liverpool in January.
Steffensen said: “Kenny Dalglish thinks a lot about Daniel and has made that clear to him in a meeting.” (talkSPORT)
Despite the concession of a penalty against Manchester United in the FA Cup 3rd Round with a challenge that he didn’t need to make (irrespective of whether Dimitar Berbatov dived or not), Daniel Agger has been quietly impressive since re-establishing himself in the Liverpool first XI with Kenny Dalglish in charge.
Liverpool looked reasonably comfortable in the first half of the Merseyside Derby against Everton on Sunday, but Agger’s illness meant he was unable to take part in the second half.
The team failed to adjust quickly, and after taking a 1-0 lead into the break, Liverpool were 2-1 down five minutes after half time.
Agger has struggled with persistent injuries since moving to Anfield, but is doubtlessly an exceptionally talented footballer.
Now likely to stay at Liverpool for the foreseeable future, it will be up to Kenny Dalglish to get the most out of him.
