Arsenal are believed to have made an enquiry about Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne.
Villa signed Dunne from Manchester City in the summer of 2009.
There were reports last month that Dunne was involved in an argument during training with Villa’s assistant manager Gary McAllister. (Daily Mail)
So Arsene Wenger’s search for a centre back this month continues and according to this source the Emirates boss is now looking to persuade Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne to leave Villa Park for Arsenal. Now let’s for a moment consider this.
If indeed the North London club did make an approach for the Irish international then it seems fairly likely that the former Everton and Manchester City man would force the issue and that would presumably force Gerard Houllier into something of a corner given that things have not been going too well for Dunne under the the new regime. This would then presumably lead to the Midlands side considering offers for the £6m rated 31 year old.
None of this however appears to have happened. Remember just a few short weeks ago Dunne was reportedly fourth choice centre back at Aston Villa but has managed to force his way back into first team action in recent weeks, however a move from the Gunners boss for the determined, if somewhat error prone, defender seems unlikely.
