Manchester United have been told to back off from Shinji Kagawa after Borussia Dortmund placed a £20million price tag on him.
The Japanese midfielder has been a revelation since joining the Bundesliga club from Cerezo Osaka in August last year for a mere fee of £295,000.
Such is his form that he is currently the club’s joint top-scorer with eight league goals in just 17 appearances and has emerged as the hottest property in German football.
United supremo Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly captivated by the up-and-coming Asian star and is encouraged to make a move for him after witnessing the success of Park Ji-sung at Old Trafford.
But Dortmund have acted quickly and placed a staggering £20 million price-tag on the 21-year-old, hoping to put off the interest of United.
21 year old Borussia Dortmund playmaker Shinji Kagawa has followed an impressive first half of a Bundesliga campaign with some solid performances at the 2011 Asian Cup where he has taken his nation to the Semi-Final stage where they take on South Korea on Tuesday and Manchester United scouts have reportedly been tracking the Kobe born youngster for the best part of year.
The £20m price tag does not appear to have scared off Manchester United who are ready to make an offer for the youngster who has helped Borussia Dortmund to a runaway lead at the top of the German league and by all accounts Kagawa is apparently greatly interested in a move to the Premier League club.
The speed with which the former Cerezo Osaka man has taken to life in Germany has been astonishing and now barely six months on from his move to Dortmund he is being chased by Europe’s elite but it appears that Sir Alex Ferguson is leading the chase and a bid is apparently likely to be made in the summer as the Man United boss has already stated publicly that he is unlikely to pursue signings in the January transfer window.
The likes of Inter Milan and Chelsea are also reportedly interested in the 21 year old attacking midfielder.
