REAL MADRID want Luka Modric AND Gareth Bale at the Bernabeu.
The double raid for the Spurs pair would cost at least £100million next summer – but Real coach Jose Mourinho reckons they are worth the huge outlay.
And that news will be a major worry for Spurs manager Harry Redknapp as he battles to build and retain a squad capable of winning regular Champions League football and pushing for the Premier League.
Redknapp is well aware of Real’s interest in Wales ace Bale, who shot to prominence in Europe with his hat-trick against Champions League winners Inter Milan earlier this season.
And former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Mourinho is now convinced Modric’s style and creativity would be ideal for both Real and La Liga in general.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona are also big admirers of Modric but it is Real who seem to have stolen a crucial edge in the race to lure him from White Hart Lane.
Spurs would demand an absolute minimum of £30m for the Croat – with Bale likely to reach anything up to £70m.
Real spent £80m on Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2009 but a combined £100m would not put them off Modric and Bale.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is apparently a huge fan of Tottenham winger Gareth Bale but would he really make an offer of £70m to sign the Welsh international youngster? Now it appears from this source that the ‘Special One’ also wants to sign Bale’s team-mate Luka Modric in a deal that would surely be given very short shrift by Harry Redknapp.
After a sticking start to his White Hart Lane career former Southampton man Bale has become one of the most sought after talents on the planet. This reversal in fortune has been down to a year of consistent performances that have seen the 21 year old take on some of the best full backs on the planet, Maicon being the prime example, and made them look ordinary.
The Cardiff born starlet has been practically unplayable for some time and has drawn interest from across Europe and Redknapp will be very aware of just how hard it may be to keep Bale at the club and a lot will depend on whether the club can continue to progress and what is key to that progression is another top four finish, which this season looks even more crucial then it did last term.
Modric too has been a top performer this term and Chelsea and Man United are also said to be keen on the pint sized Croatian. The North London side will fight off all attempts to lose any of the players who have helped the club go from also rans to genuine title contenders but if a bid of £100m did come in for the pair, one wonders what Daniel Levy would do.
