Frank Lampard has revealed he wants to haunt Premier League defenders for another eight years.
Lampard has seen Ryan Giggs announce he wants to continue playing for another year and highlighted Paolo Maldini who played until he was 40.
The England international will be 33 in June but has indicated that he has no immediate plans to halt his trademark goalscoring runs from midfield.
“The way my body feels I’m certainly enjoying my football as much as I ever have,” he toldChampions magazine.
“I’m hoping I can stay at the top level until my late 30s at least and emulate Ryan Giggs and Paolo Maldini.
“Maldini played for Italy for many, many years and remained competitive at both club and international level.

It seems extraordinary that the Chelsea man was taunted for years by opposition supporters for being fat when in fact he has proved to be one of the fittest players in the Premier League. This season has been the first where he has missed a significant chunk through injury which is not bad considering he is approaching 33 years of age.
Lampard’s desire to continue playing for many more years will be music to the ears of Chelsea fans after seeing the team’s form dip alarmingly in his absence earlier in the season. A player who contributed 22 goals and 18 assists in their double winning campaign last season, he is essential to their success and if he is still playing at the highest level in eight years time it will mean that esceptional standard has not slipped.
