Liverpool are planning a deadline day bid for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young who has reportedly been offered a lucrative new deal in the hopes that the England international will not push for a Villa Park exit. The Anfield side are looking to improve their average squad and after seemingly failing to land Blackpool playmaker Charlie Adam they will turn their attention to the 25 year old winger.
With a great deal of transfer talk revolving surrounding Fernando Torres and Chelsea, Liverpool are trying to push on with moves for targets drawn up by Director of Football Damien Comolli and the Merseyside club will hope they can persuade Ashley Young to push for a move which would either be completed tomorrow or sewn up in the summer.
Young has consistently batted off questions relating to a new contract and stated that he would not discuss a new Aston Villa deal until the summer by which point the former Watford man will have just one year left on his current, a situation that clearly worries the Midlands club who will have to think long and hard about any offer that comes in for the talented attacker.
Manchester United are said to also be keeping an eye on the Aston Villa man who has long been a target of Sir Alex Ferguson who was reportedly keen on landing Young when he made his move from Watford back in 2007.
