Arsenal held further talks on Sunday night over their proposed £10m move for Southampton’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his interest in the 17-year-old but Southampton manager Nigel Adkins hopes to keep him at St Mary’s, until the end of the season at least.
‘We are not envisaging selling him, we’re not looking to sell him,’ said Adkins. ‘We don’t want to sell him. I think it is beneficial for him to be playing regularly for Southampton in the Football League, giving him a chance to develop.

Whilst it appears that Arsenal may not be about to get their man this month a tacit agreement is reportedly in place that will see the young attacker complete a move to the Emirates stadium in the summer. The £10m rated teenager has been the subject of much speculation but it has appeared that the Portsmouth born starlet has set his sights on following Theo Walcott to the Emirates Stadium.
There were apparently talks to complete the move this month, a move that would have included a deal to send Chamberlain straight back to St Mary’s for the remainder of the season it seems now that any deal will now be completed in the summer and could then also involve a season long loan back at Southampton who will hope to be in the Championship by that point.
