Tottenham Hotspur have had a sensational €35 million offer for Giuseppe Rossi turned down by Villarreal CF , according to Sky Italia.
The network says the Spanish club are refusing to sell the player for anything less than his €50M buyout clause.

The 23-year-old, who played for Manchester United before leaving for the Spanish top flight in 2007, has scored a staggering 17 goals and set up six in all competitions this season.

He boasts a league efficiency ratio of a goal or assist every 100.3 minutes.

Tottenham have long been linked with Italian, and are hoping to boost their crop of strikers before end of today’s transfer deadline day, particularly following Robbie Keane’s departure on loan to West Ham United.

So Harry Redknapp’s search for new striking talent continues without success. Reports moves for Andy Carroll, Sergio Aguero, Fernando Llorente and a host of others have apparently failed to resolve the issue that Tottenham appear to have with their misfiring strike force.

A move for Villarreal sharp shooter Giuseppe Rossi was however a wise one, the Italian international is in red hot form in La Liga, scoring 20 goals in all competitions this season, and some may feel that the youngster is in danger of outgrowing the Yellow Submarines and there is no denying that the New Jersey born striker has come a long way since his time at Manchester United.
