Arsenal will plan a fresh move for Manchester City keeper Shay Given this summer. Arsene Wenger did reportedly enquire about bringing the Eastlands bench warmer to the Emirates Stadium but was told that the Irish international was going nowhere but the Gunners boss will attempt to snatch the 34 year old with a £7m bid.
It is believed that the North London club will look to offload Manuel Almunia in the summer and may well also accept offers for Vito Mannone, who has been on loan at Hull City this season, and that Wenger is still looking for a solid number one starter much as he did last summer when he failed with his approaches to sign Fulham veteran Mark Schwarzer.
Roberto Mancini has hitherto refused to allow any of his squad player to make moves to clubs he considered rivals for their ambitions of both a top four finish and to some extent an outside push for the Premier League title but the Italian will be more open to such a deal in the summer rather than keep an unhappy player at the club any longer than he feels he has to.
Given started 35 of 38 Premier League matches last term but then lost his first team spot to England international Joe Hart and thus far the former Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United goalie has not played a minute of Premier League football this season.
