Liverpool are lining up a move for a new left back and Anfield boss Kenny Daglish and Director of Football Damien Comolli are interested making a move for Everton’s Leighton Baines. David Moyes will try to fight off interest in the England international but may struggle to prevent an exit unless the Toffees can half their slide down the table.
Glen Johnson is currently filling in at left back after he lost his right back spot to impressive youngster Martin Kelly and it appears that there is not a great deal of confidence in the likes of Emiliano Insua and Paul Konchesky who are both away on loan at Galatasaray and Nottingham Forest respectively. The Merseyside club also have the option of using Fabio Aurelio but the Brazilian appears to be very much a back up rather than a first team regular.
£12m rated Baines is now in his fourth season at Everton and put pen to paper on a new long term contract last summer but having seen his side go from genuine top six contenders to seemingly becoming very much part of a relegation battling outfit the former Wigan man may be ready to consider his options.
Manchester United are also said to be interested in the set piece specialist but reports that Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to offer a lengthy contract to Patrice Evra may put an end to that interest.
