Reports have surfaced suggesting that Arsenal will look to sign Stoke City keeper Asmir Begovic this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in a new custodian. The Bosnian international has been on the Emirates radar for some time and Chelsea are also said to be interested in the former Portsmouth goalie.
With Manuel Almunia said to be likely to leave the North London in the summer and the Spaniard could well be joined by young Italian goalie Vito Mannone who is currently on loan at Hull City and as such Wenger will be as keen as ever to bring in a new first choice keeper.
The Gunners boss tried hard to land Mark Schwarzer in the summer and whilst Lukasz Fabianski has greatly improved he has now suffered an injury that will see him out of action for the rest of the season at least. That leaves highly rated Polish youngster Wojciech Szczesny as very much one for the future.
Begovic has wrested the first team spot at Stoke City from veteran Dane Thomas Sorensen this season and is highly thought of and at 23 has a great deal of time to mature into the finished article and the £6m rated keeper is now very much an Arsenal target.
