Liverpool interim manager Kenny Dalglish has been reluctant to discuss a permanent position publicly before talking it over with the club owners, but that hasn’t stopped questions being asked.
Reds’ vice-captain Jamie Carragher gave his backing though in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.
“Things have improved now and Kenny coming has got everyone onside.
“[The choice of permanent manager is] not our decision. That’s up to the club owners. For everyone, especially me and Stevie (Gerrard), he’s a hero to us. The results are obviously going very well. If you’re asking me, obviously I’d love him to be the manager.”
Certainly Dalglish has had a positive effect on the team, and many have called for him to be awarded the permanent job now.
However, delaying the decision seems a wise move by club owners Fenway Sports Group.
There is no need to distract Dalglish from football matters until the end of the season, and the Scot is hardly going anywhere until then.
FSG can sort out what will surely be a formality at the end of the season, and Dalglish certainly is likely to be in charge next campaign after being backed in the transfer market in January.
