Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is monitoring proceedings at the Bernabeu with interest as the White Hart Lane boss plans a raid for one of two strikers currently plying their trade with Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho has brought in Manchester City forward Emmanuel Adebayor in order to beef up his striking options for the remainder of the season, which has simultaneously left French international Karim Benzema back on the bench.

Redknapp will make an offer for either of the pair in the summer as he looks to reshape his Tottenham strike force after seeing his quartet of strikers failing to provide the North London club with the fire power he desires.

Peter Crouch, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane have accumulated just seven Premier League goals from a total of 34 starts and Redknapp’s efforts to bring in a new striker in January failed to come to fruition after attempts to sign Diego Forlan, Giuseppe Rossi, Andy Carroll and Sergio Aguero all hit the buffers.

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer Manchester City £23m for Adebayor which would leave the way open for a Tottenham move for 22 year old former Lyon man Benzema as Jose Mourinho would then be willing to cash in on the misfiring striker as first choice starter Gonzalo Higuain would be fit and raring to go by that point.

However if Mourinho is not suitably impressed by Adebayor come the end of the season then Redknapp will look to snap up the Togo international from Eastlands and will hope that Roberto Mancini has no qualms about selling to a direct top four rival.
