Zenit keen on Arshavin
Andrei Arshavin has been in less than sparkling form for Arsenal of late, and it appears his former club would be ready to offer him an escape route should Arsene Wenger look to cash in.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s search for a new striker has led him to England.
AS says Florentino is eyeing Arsenal striker Robin van Persie as he desperately seeks to boost Real’s attacking options for next season.
Now fully fit and returning to his best, Van Persie’s form again has attracted admiring glances from Real.
Arsene Wenger will have to think long and hard about some of his squad when the season comes to an end. The Emirates boss will hope that his Gunners side will have picked up some significant silverware this term and if not then he is all the more likely to swing the axe.
Of the three players named above the player who appears most likely to stay would be in form Dutchman Robin Van Persie, a player who is in rich vein of form right now and if he can stay injury free he is pivotal to the club’s chances of success and any offer for the former Feyenoord man will be turned down flat.
However, Nicklas Bendtner may well be released when the season comes to an end. The big Dane is still low down the pecking order at the club and has both Van Persie and Marouane Chamakh ahead of him in the queue, a situation that may lead to the 23 year old asking for a move. A number of clubs appear to want the striker including some Premier League outfits but a move abroad seems far more likely.
Andrei Arshavin is a player very much in the spotlight this season. His demeanour and poor displays have not gone unnoticed and a number of reports suggest that perhaps the Russian international is homesick which has led to reports that his former club Zenit St Petersburg are interested and come the end of the season the picture may be more clear on whether such a deal is a possibility.
A number of other players at the North London club may also have question marks over their Arsenal future. Players such as Carlos Vela, Emmanuel Eboue, Manuel Almunia and Tomas Rosicky are all reportedly very much on the cusp of being offloaded by Wenger but all these players have the next few months to prove themselves invaluable to the Frenchman.
