Nedum Onuoha has revealed his desire to stay at Sunderland and hopes Manchester City will accept any offer from the Black Cats.

The 24-year-old has been a major success at the Stadium of Light this season, playing 17 games and scoring one goal, after making a year-long loan from Manchester City.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has hinted he is keen to make the deal permanent for the England U21 international.

City will look for £8million for the Nigerian-born centre-back who has made it clear he would consider staying on Wearside.

He told the Journal: “I’m happy here either way, whether we’re fighting relegation or going for the title.

“It’s a great place, we’ve got some great supporters and it’s a great place to play. I think if it came down to it and City were to accept a bid for me from Sunderland, then it wouldn’t be a difficult decision for me. I like it here.”

If Manchester City do decide to sell Onuoha, Sunderland will not be the only club to take an interest in the powerful defender. Arsenal, Fulham and Aston Villa are all in the market for a centre-back.
